Countdown to Christmas at Cabragh!
Dear Parents and Carers,
What a busy time we are having in school as we finish November and begin the season of Advent, preparing for Christmas. As part of our preparations, we are encouraging the children to reflect on doing ‘One Good Deed a Day’—small acts of kindness can make a big difference.
The Friends of Cabragh recently met and I want to extend my heartfelt thanks for their continued support of our school. A special mention goes to our treasurer, Mrs. Linda Corrigan, whose dedication over the past few years has secured numerous grants that have greatly enhanced our school—most notably a substantial sensory grant and the fundraising that made our fantastic ICT Suite possible. Sadly, Linda will be stepping down from her role and we wish her every success in the future. Alongside Shauna Nelson, Linda has also helped provide a wonderful selection of board games and activities for P5, P6 and P7, thoughtfully responding to the pupils’ requests for rainy-day board games and activities.
There may be some extra humming and singing in your home as the children prepare for our Christmas Show, which will take place in Killeeshil Community Centre at 7:00 pm on Thursday 18th December 2025. We are all looking forward to a wonderful evening of festive cheer!
On the night, we will also be running our traditional Christmas Raffle, with lots of wonderful prizes to be won. Thank you in advance for your support in making this event a success.
The children are also excited about their upcoming Christmas outings:
- P1 & P2 – Navan Centre on 9th December
- P3 & P4 – Marketplace Theatre, Armagh on 2nd December
- P5, P6 & P7 – Grand Opera House, Belfast on 4th December
Just a reminder that Christmas Dinner and Christmas Jumper Day will take place on Friday 5th December. It promises to be a fun and festive day for everyone!
On the same day, our P2 children have been invited to St. Ciaran's for a Fundamentals Day, which will be a great opportunity for them to enjoy physical activities and develop key skills!
Our Do This in Memory programme continues for P4 children this Saturday with Mass in Ackinduff Chapel at 7pm on 13th December.
One of the key dates in our calendar this term is our Open Day. This is a wonderful opportunity to welcome the youngest members of our community and their parents. We’ll be showcasing all that our school has to offer, so please spread the word and encourage families to come along for a special tour. This exciting event takes place on Tuesday 2nd December, from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
As we approach to the end of this term, I would like to thank everyone for their support. Your partnership and kindness have helped make our school a welcoming and positive place for our children. We hope you enjoy the lead-up to Christmas and all the exciting, festive moments it brings!
Kind regards,
Helen Lavery
