In this cross curricular topic the children made bird cakes and were following instructions on how to do this. The children were learning about animals in winter and how the birds find it difficult to find food because of the cold weather. We were learning that birds need lots of energy and our bird cakes are full of energy for the birds!!! We are also learning about the features of instructional writing for our literacy genre this term. We were so lucky to go outside and bird watch. We recorded all the different birds we saw in one week and made graphs in the new ICT suite. We also had a visit from Stephen from the "Speedwell Trust" who came into school to talk to the class all about different birds and their importance in our world.
