Celebrating World Down Syndrome Day in P6!
The children in Primary 6 had a wonderful time celebrating 'World Down Syndrome Day' in school today. Primary 6 had the opportunity to developed their understanding of Down Syndrome when chatting with Ailis, our school visitor. Ailis told us many interesting facts about how Down Syndrome was first discovered, why we celebrate Down Syndrome on 21st March each year and why we wear odd socks to mark the day.
The children then had the chance to experience what life is like for people with various different physical impairments. Have a look at our photos to see us engaging in tasks that challenged us to write whilst blindfolded, communicate through sign language or even thread a string with only one hand.
