Primary 6 and Primary 7 had four sessions of coding each with Edel from REIM. The children were taught how to program using Scratch.
In P6, they started off by creating the name ‘Cabragh’ and making it move and ‘speak’. Moving on from this, they created their own bat and ball game with a score board for other class members to play. The score went down when the ‘ball’ hit the edge of the screen and when the lives were out, the children coded the game to say ‘Game Over’. Primary 6 thoroughly enjoyed learning how to code and got satisfaction from ‘debugging’ the computer program when something wasn’t working how it was meant to.
