Today, we welcomed back Music Specialist, Mr Donal Gormley, to St Mary's! Primary 1 and 2 children had lots of fun taking part in the Creative Music Afterschool delivered by Donal.
The children enjoyed singing and learning to tell the difference between high and low sounds. The catchy little songs helped the children to learn about pitch through movement! The children also loved moving their scarves rhythmically to the music!
Music has numerous benefits for children including; activating both sides of the brain, improving listening, concentration and problem-solving, improving working memory, confidence building, promoting creativity and self-expression and promoting well-being - reducing anxiety and stress.
