Foundation Stage /KS1 Farm Safety Talk
22nd Apr 2024
Today we had a visit from the 'Be Aware Kids' child safety on farms campaign.
Farm health and safety for children is an important message that should be promoted not only at home but also in schools. The children took a farm safety quiz and then watched a video learning about all the possible hazards on the farm.
Today the children learned how to keep safe by:
- having a safe and secure play area away from the farm.
- not playing in or around farmyards and livestock
- all children under 13 years should not by riding on tractors and farm machinery.
- children should never play bear heavy wheels, gates, equipment and stacked materials to prevent them from toppling over.
- they should never go near a slurry lagoon and never be around slurry when it is being mixed
- making sure children wash their hands before eating and drinking when on a farm
- never go near chemicals.
