ICT Suite- Concept to Completion

We are delighted to inform you that our new ICT Suite is up and running!

We would like to thank our amazing Parent Support Group, ‘Friends of Cabragh’ , for organising the ‘Family Fortunes’ fundraising event that raised over £49,000!

We are indebted to all the sponsors and local businesses who made very generous donations to the Family Fortunes Fundraiser and who helped us to realise our dream of creating a state of the art ICT suite in St Mary’s! A massive thank you to all the sponsors and businesses!

Using the funds raised we have been able to refurbish the old P7 classroom in the main school building, buy computer benches & computer chairs, buy 25 C2k managed computers, buy a Clevertouch Board and 20 new iPads.

A special word of thanks to Richard 0’ Lone @ ROL Group for all of his expertise, guidance and assistance throughout the whole project. Ergonomics have a critical role to play in ensuring pupils can focus on their ICT lessons and develop their digital skills. Richard’s advice on infrastructure and his input into the project has been invaluable and he has helped us to create a well designed space which is comfortable and efficient.

Thanks to Joe Mallon who made a fantastic storage unit for our ICT equipment. Joe also fitted new skirting board and laid new carpet tiles in the ICT Suite. Thanks Joe!

A word of thanks also to Caolan Mallon who re-plastered the walls and left everything ready for the painters. Thanks Caolan Mallon!

A massive thank you to Kevin Hughes for all of his help with the project also.

A special thank you to our building supervisor Damien Hamill, who cleared the old P7 room to create a blank canvas, assisted tradesmen and opened up the school over the summer to facilitate the completion of work . Thank you so much Damien!

This project was expertly co-ordinated by our head of ICT, Mr Dermot Morrow. A huge thank you to Mr Morrow for liaising closely with all tradesmen and C2K to ensure the timely completion of the ICT suite and for overseeing the purchase, fitting and setting up of the new ICT equipment.

Our pupils and staff were so excited to use our new ICT Suite and equipment this term! The creation of our new ICT suite will help our pupils to develop their digital skills and help them to become familiar with digital tools they’ll need in future studies and careers, prepping them for the 21st-century workplace.

The ICT suite will also support group work and collaborative projects, helping pupils to develop teamwork and communication skills while solving problems with technology.

Our new ICT suite will further enhance the teaching and learning experiences of our pupils in St Mary’s and will make lessons more interactive and engaging.
