Since January, Primary 7 pupils have been enhancing their literacy skills through the Irish News Young Readers Project.
Every Wednesday, each pupil in the class receives a school edition of the Irish News newspaper and every week the class will participate in literacy activities using the newspaper.
The project enables pupils to develop a range of thinking skills through critical reading and understanding of selected articles, encouraging independent thinkers. The project provides a create diversity of news stories for the children to explore, encouraging pupils to take an interest in what is happening in the local news and further afield.
