Today, ‘Keep A Beat NI’ came to St. Mary's to deliver very worthwhile First Aid training to our Primary 7 class.
Accidents and medical emergencies can happen at any time so making sure our Primary 7 boys and girls are trained and confident in dealing with such incidents is extremely important to us.
Firstly, we would like to say a huge thank you to ‘Nugent Engineering’ and ‘Gormley Agri’ for their sponsorship and enabling our P7 class to avail of this very valuable training.
The children learnt so much today from; what goes into a First Aid Kit, to applying bandages, CPR, how to use a defibrillator, the recovery position and what to do if someone is choking. The children gained plenty of practical experience by carrying out these skills on a mannequin.
Staff members even joined in on the training for a refresher on how to use a defibrillator and demonstrated this for the Primary 7s to watch. The boys and girls will take away these life-long skills and are now more equipped to deal with a medical emergency.
Thank you for the training ‘Keep A Beat NI’! The sessions were so interactive, hands on and engaging! Everyone is now feeling more confident in delivering First Aid and knowing what to do in the first few minutes of an emergency.
