Key Stage One NSPCC 'Speak Out Stay Safe' Workshop
Today, we welcomed Mary from the NSPCC to deliver the "Speak Out Stay Safe" programme and to speak to our children about keeping themselves safe.
Mary delivered a child-friendly, engaging and interactive workshop with the help of the Speak out Stay safe mascot, Buddy the speech bubble.
The NSPCC’s Speak out. Stay safe is a programme for children aged 5-11 which aims to help children understand abuse in all its forms and to recognise the signs of abuse. Children are taught to speak out if they are worried, either to a safe and trusted adult or Childline 0800 1111.
The children learned that all children have rights. The right to speak out and be heard, the right to be safe and the right to get help when they need it. Mary also delivered important anti-bullying messages and the children learned about what bullying is and how to deal with its different forms effectively. The children also learned that making a child feel sad, scared or worried is never OK and is never their fault. If they’re ever worried about anything they should tell an adult they trust or call Childline.
By the end of the programme, our children were left feeling empowered - knowing how they can speak out and stay safe.
