Knockmany Cup & Ellie Rogan Football Tounaments
Our school’s Gaelic teams had an amazing day at the Knockmany Tournament in Fr. Hackett Park Augher.
Our girls team played superbly throughout the group stage, winning three matches and losing just one, by a narrow margin. This meant the girls progressed to the semi-final of the cup, facing another strong team. The girls showed amazing determination, composure and skill to come from behind and win to progress to the Ellie Rogan Cup Final. Playing in a front of a huge crowd, the girls put in a tremendous effort in the final. There were some outstanding moments in defence and attack, put unfortunately we fell just short on this occasion. The girls can hold their heads up high, with many spectators remarking on the wonderful performances throughout the day. They were each presented with a runner-up plaque. Well done girls, we are so proud of you!
Congratulations to the winning team, St. Patrick's Primary School, Eskra!
The boys were placed in a difficult group, but with some super performances, they finished with two wins, qualifying for the Ben Sherry Memorial Shield final. Again, in front of a huge crowd, our boys put on a stellar display. After a slow start, and trailing by 4 at half-time, the boys dug in deep to claw the deficit back. Some remarkable performances in defence and superb pieces of skill in attack, saw the boys take the lead. They then kicked on and were thoroughly deserving winners.
Huge congratulations to our boys! We are so proud of you all!
