May: The Month of Mary
Dear Parent/Guardian,
This Friday marks the beginning of May. During the month of May, the St. Mary's School Community, traditionally honours Mary our Mother. Putting up a May Altar is a special tradition at St. Mary's Primary School, where, each year at the beginning of May, every classroom has its own little altar made by the class and dedicated to our Blessed Mother Mary.
We have placed a little May Altar in the foyer of St. Mary's and above a beautiful painting by Liam Mc Mahon of Our Lady of Lourdes . This painting was kindly donated by Mrs Poacher. We encourage our children to make their own May Altar at home. During this Month of May, perhaps the children could take a few moments each day to pray to Mary Our Mother, for the continued well-being of all our families and friends. Perhaps your child could use the beautiful Rosary Beads Fr. Hannigan gave them earlier in the year.
I would love to see some photos of your child and their May Altar. You can email photos to me or send them via the Comments Box in your child's Home Learning Area and I can share them on the school Website! I look forward to seeing your May Altar!
Kind Regards,
Mrs Louise Quinn
