Operation Transformation
Dear Parents /Guardians,
Outdoor play and learning is an important part of our Foundation Stage curriculum and has numerous benefits for children’s development.
The outdoor play area is one of the best possible learning environments and provides children with an abundance of learning opportunities to improve problem-solving skills, develop social skills such as cooperation, sharing and communication, build confidence, develop creativity, develop physical skills such as gross motor skills and coordination, nurture a love and appreciation of nature and improve physical health and emotional wellbeing.
At St Mary’s we recognise the importance of providing quality learning environments and experiences for our children.
Last year, with the help of Friends of Cabragh, we developed our wonderful Sensory Garden and Fairy Garden and this year, we wish to further develop our Foundation Stage Outdoor Learning area for our P1’s and P2’s.
We are launching, OPERATION TRANSFORMATION in the hope that, with your help, we can transform the early years outdoor play area, so that our pupils will be provided with an enriching learning environment and enhanced opportunities to explore and problem solve, be creative and imaginative, make friendships, work collaboratively and experience success!
Attached are some of our ideas and the resources we need to create a stimulating outdoor play environment for our Foundation Stage pupils. If you have any other ideas please feel free to share with us!
If you think you can assist in any way, please contact Miss Cush:
or telephone the school 028 877 67356
We thank you for your continued support.
Kind regards,
Louise Quinn
