POST-PRIMARY APPLICATION NOTIFICATION

28th May 2021

Revised Date for Notification of the Outcome of Applications for Pupils Transferring to Post-Primary School in September 2021

The date for notifying parents about the outcome of their child's application has been brought forward to

Saturday 12th June 2021.

Parents who had applied online will be able to login to the EA Post-Primary Application from 9am on Saturday,
12th June 2021 to receive the outcome of their child’s application.

The EA will write to those parents who have applied via a paper application to notify them of the outcome
of their child’s application.

On Notification Day
It is expected that a very large volume of parents will be logging in on notification day.  EA have advised that it may take some time before all parents are able to access their notification.

Once logged in, parents will immediately access the notification page, rather than having to click on multiple
links. As a result, they will not be able to view their child’s application for a period after 12 June. This is
intentional to encourage the traffic on the Post-Primary Application to turnaround more quickly on the site,
thereby enabling more parents to view outcomes throughout the notification day and the days ahead. EA staff will monitor the position and once satisfied that traffic has reduced to a manageable level will reestablish the view of applications for parents’ information and use.

Independent Admissions Appeals Tribunals

Parents/guardians who wish to make an appeal against the decision of a Board of Governors of a school, not
to admit their child, will need to submit their completed appeal form by 4pm on Friday, 25 June 2021.
Detailed information on the appeals process is accessible via the EA website at
https://www.eani.org.uk/parents/admissions/admissions-appeals

The Post-Primary (Year 8) appeal form will be made available on Saturday, 12 June and will remain open until 4pm on Friday, 25 June 2021.

Exceptional Circumstances Body
Parents can make an application to have their case heard by the Exceptional Circumstances Body (ECB) in
situations where their child has not been admitted to the school they consider that, for exceptional reasons,
he/she must attend. Parents can access further information and the application via the NI Direct website at
https://www.nidirect.gov.uk/articles/appealing-school-place-decision or by contacting the ECB Secretariat
by telephone on 028 9127 9871, or by emailing ecbsecretariat@education-ni.gov.uk

There is no deadline for applications to the ECB.
