Primary 3 Show and Tell
This week the boys and girls in Primary 3 had lots of fun taking part in ‘ Show and Tell’.
Show and Tell gives children an opportunity to stand up in front of their friends and speak about a topic that interests them or share something that they love.
Expressing their ideas during Show and Tell has allowed the children to develop a sense of pride which has boosted their self esteem. Being at the centre of the class’s attention and experiencing the class listening to them speak about something important to them, has helped to build their confidence.
Show and Tell has also helped the children to develop effective communication skills. Speaking in front of a group is an effective activity which encourages the use of different vocabulary and descriptive language and develops the children’s ability to retell stories – in turn leading to improved communication skills which are important throughout their lives. They also develop the ability to answer questions well.
Being part of the Show and Tell audience is also an important part of learning. The children have been learning to sit still and listen closely to someone other than their teacher. Show and Tell has given the children the opportunity to learn about asking questions and respectful listening.
