St Mary's Celebrate Ireland's Six Nations Grand Slam Win!
The Six Nations Championship is an annual international men's rugby union competition between the teams of England, France, Ireland, Italy, Scotland and Wales. On Saturday 18th March 2023 Ireland won the Six Nations with a 29-16 victory over England at Aviva Stadium. Ireland won the tournament for the 15th time along with a 13th Triple Crown and a fourth Grand Slam. In the Six Nations Championship a Grand Slam occurs when one team beats all of the others during one year's competition.
Today we held a "Green Day" in St Mary's to celebrate Ireland's fantastic win! The pupils and staff came to school dressed in green and were extremely excited to welcome a few special guests to the school this morning! Peter Scullion who is physio with the Ireland Men's Rugby team and a past pupil of the school brought the Triple Crown and Six Nations Championship trophies into school and answered questions from the children. The children asked about his time at school as well as working with some of the best players in the world.
We would like to thank Peter for so kindly arranging this wonderful experience for the pupils in St Mary's and giving so generously of his time. We wish Peter all the best in the future.
