St Patrick's Day Concert!
Today we held a "Green Day" in St. Mary's to celebrate St. Patrick's Day. The children came to school dressed in green and took part in a range of St. Patrick's Day art and craft activities. The children had lots of fun making shamrocks, making little lucky Leprechauns, finding out about St. Patrick and creating beautiful St. Patrick's Day cards.
St Mary's has a great tradition of music and today the children enjoyed playing music, singing Irish tunes, dancing and performing on stage! We hope you enjoy watching our St. Patrick's Day Concert!
Traditional Musicians- Our traditional group (Mollie-Cait, Ava, Ellie, Casidhe-Mae, Joe, Brigid-Rose and Padraig) played a medley of traditional tunes.
1. Dawning of the day
2. Foggie dew
3. Lucy’s barndance
4. Lisnagun jig
5. The curragh races
Primary 1 & 7 Buddies- P1 and P7 joined together with their buddies to perform the song "I'm a little leprechaun" during our St. Patrick's Day assembly. The boys and girls also performed a poem in Irish that our fabulous student teachers Mr. Currie and Miss Slane taught them. Well done everyone in P1 and P7!
Primary 2- Our P2 children had lots of fun learning how to spell the colour GREEN for their St Patrick's Day song. The song was based on the well-known nursery rhyme called B-I-N-G-O. They took great pride in making up their own actions, singing out loud and being able to teach this to the younger children. Enjoy!
Primary 3- Hail Glorious St. Patrick
Primary 4- 'An Corp'. The children sang a lively action song to the tune of “An Dreoilín”.
Primary 5- Primary 5 performed a lovely rendition of “Ireland’s Call”. Hopefully it will bring the Irish Rugby team some luck in their big game on Saturday! Enjoy!
Primary 6- Primary 6 performed an Irish language poem 'Contaetha na hÉireann'. This poem detailed all the provinces in Ireland and the counties within each province. Children brought in their own jerseys from a range of counties to showcase each one. All our students worked so hard on this and were superb at showing off their skills as Gaeilge.
Irish Dancers- Isla, Holly Hughes, Ellen-Rose, Ava McCrory, Nessa, Leah and Holly Hill showed off their amazing Irish dancing skills by dancing a beautfiul light jig for everyone. They were like little fairies, well done girls!
