St Patrick's Day in Primary 4
Our colourful St Patrick's Day celebrations began with our whole school gathering in the hall to enjoy all things Irish. The P4 children sang (in Irish) and danced their way through a now well known song! They received applause and cheers from the other classes to mark their enjoyment of the P4 routine.
Once back in our P4 classroom, the children viewed a powerpoint about the life of St Patrick. We had a great discussion as to how Patrick felt being separated from his family. Quite a few eyebrows were raised when they learned that Patrick was without a waterproof coat or boots, to help him keep dry, as he herded the animals on the mountain.
Earlier this week the children made St Patrick's Day cards for their family and a little lucky Leprechaun. A lot of fun was had creating our leprechauns during this very busy week. Hearing that leprechauns have gold, P4 were asked to design a trap to lure and catch a leprechaun. Some very elaborate systems were developed to give maximum advantage to the catcher. One child commented that a very important thing to do was 'test it out with something to make sure it works'. Great advice!
We want to wish you all an enjoyable and safe St Patrick's Day.
