The Cabragh Cup
We were treated to a brilliant exhibition of football today in Killeeshil GAA grounds as the long standing primary school's football tournament took place. Eleven teams from local primary schools did battle in two groups. Group A- St Mary Ballygawley, St. Matthews Glencull, St. Patrick's Aughadarragh, St.Mary's Aughnacloy and Roan St Patrick's.Eglish. Group B- St Mary's Cabragh, St. Patrick's Donaghmore, St. Joseph's Galbally, St Johns Moy, Edendork and St Mary's Pomeroy. After the group sections Ballygawley, Roan, Galbally and Donaghmore qualified for the Cup competition. Cabragh, Pomeroy, Aughnacloy and Aughadarragh made it through to the shield final. After two epic semi finals Cabragh and Pomeroy contested the shield final with Pomeroy running out winners. This was a fantastic effort from the lads from Cabragh but they were beaten by a better team on the day. Donaghmore and Roan contested the final of the Cup with Donaghmore coming out on top. In a close game Donaghmore's players really stepped up their efforts and were deserving victors. Thank to our referees and Master McAnespie for organising the day and our photographer Jack Rafferty.
